How To Prepare For A Panchakarma Treatment With Dr Vignesh Devraj
Hello Readers,
I often find people reaching out to me with a lot of questions on how to plan their Panchakarma treatment. Choosing the right centre, planning the number of days and figuring out all the do’s and dont’s before and after your Panchakarma treatment can be really overwhelming, and we hope these answers help ease your process and help you have a calm and comfortable start.
Here are some of the main points you should keep in mind
- Do your research well, check for NABH Accreditation, read the reviews and start by signing up for an online consultation to explain your purpose before you fix the centre.
- 18 days is a magic number. Leaving 4 days for recovering from jetlag and recovering post-treatment, you will get two weeks for a proper treatment. If you have other specific health conditions, you may require three weeks.
- If you are travelling long-distance, check for a pre-arrival checklist and pack accordingly. Finish all your packing at least three days before and start on a calm note. Treat it like a pilgrimage that you are taking for your inner self, and not a vacation.
- Make alternate arrangements if you have pets, forward your work emails and assign people for any emergencies so that you can focus freely on your own healing journey.
- Avoid over-indulging in alcohol, coffee, or too heavy foods in the week leading up to the treatment. Otherwise, you could face strong withdrawal during your treatment and end up making the experience harder than it has to be.
- Similarly, in the week following the treatment, avoid all high intensity situations and create a space for smooth transition back to your regular life.
- Do not worry about if your menstrual cycle collides with your treatment dates. Mention it to the doctor, so that they can schedule some gentle relaxation therapies during that time.
Note: In case, you are in a situation where you cannot take these liberties and are hard-pressed for time, do not worry too much. While these preparations can ease your experience and make it more impactful, even a week for yourself is still a great headstart on your healing journey! Consult with the centre, explain your situation and let the doctors put together a suitable plan for you.
The topics discussed in this episode are:
- How do I choose a good centre for my Panchakarma treatment?
- How many days are ideal for a Panchakarma therapy?
- How do I prepare for a panchakarma therapy?
- Are there any protocols I should follow after going back?
- Can I do Panchakarma during my periods?
- What happens if I am not able to spend time on preparation? Can I still come?
